What we do (Sustainable Rural Projects ― Reforestation)

The reforestation project aims to be carried out in the region where deforestation occurs in the region with the involvement of the local community to contain the advance of deforestation and promote replacement activities with incentives for non-timber production in search of establishing a self-sustaining economy.

To start the first step, we approach the municipality of Iranduba -AM, being a traditional city of brick industry, raw material for construction to supply the Manaus, 2.15 million inhabitants. For such demand, original forest was used as firewood in brick production until today. This reforestation project will aim to recover degraded and open areas and the watershed.

To promote this activity, we involve local properties where there is open/degraded land, including tired secondary forest, old pasture. We avoid delivering seedlings and labor free of charge, we will place the minimum condition such as participating together in the planting activity, after explaining the objective and commitment to post-planting care, with follow-up by our team with instructions on how to move forward. All planted tree will be for the good of them.

With the good monitoring of planting, about ten years later of implantation, it can reach the point of being used as wood. But that is up to the land owner. In the event of cutting in the future, our team will monitor the planting Other tree before cutting, as replacement and continuity of participation in the project. In principle, Clearcutting of wood would not be encouraged so that the forest and soil can be gradually recovered, so we want to increase the foret service.
